Walt Disney World® Resort:
Animal Kingdom

Kilimanjaro SafarisWhen the sun rises over the Savannah you’d better be there! Animals love the cooler mornings, not the midday heat, so rise and shine! Kilimanjaro Safaris needs to be your first stop, so head all the way to the back of the park. There's tons of African wildlife on view and it looks, feels, and smells like the real thing - amazing! The Pangani Forest Exploration Trail leads to a close-up Gorilla encounter with these magnificent animals and an underwater tete a tete with some hippopotami!

Elsewhere in the park the attention to detail is superb. The Tree Of Life, the park icon, is an inspired 145-foot creation that merits a tour all of it’s own. Underneath the tree you'll find It's Tough to Be A Bug a creepy crawly comedy featuring loveable Flik, Hopper and a cast of millions. Young paleontologists should head over to Dinoland USA where they can dig up a few old friends in The Boneyard. This is also where you'll find the Dinosaur ride, a thrilling bronto-sized adventure, and Finding Nemo - The Musical, a vibrant, sing-a-long adaptation of the hit movie. The whole family needs to catch Festival of the Lion King. It’s incredibly colorful and the award winning music is ggrrreat!

Don't miss the exciting Kali River Rapids or the beautiful tigers along the Maharaja Jungle Trek, while the biggest thrill on offer is Expedition Everest – enjoy a ‘hairy’ Himalayan encounter aboard this rollercoaster ride to the top of the world! Camp Minnie Mickey is where you'll find the usual tribe of Disney characters just in case the kids need another cute picture!

Insider Tips
  • After a very early start you should have seen most of this ‘kingdom’ by the afternoon so consider a stop at the Rain Forest Café on your way out, the parks most popular 'water hole'. Everyone should eat their lunch in a thunderstorm at least once!
  • Inside It's Tough To Be A Bug re-assure younger ones before the show that the spiders dropping from the roof are not real and you'll be fine!
  • If the hippos aren't in view when you arrive, wait a few minutes - it's worth it. The same applies to the gorillas and the tigers.
